MEET THE TEAM

Brian Henry

Passion begins at a young age.

My passion for everything auto started early in life.  Throughout my childhood, my father worked as a rep for several auto parts manufacturers.  I would help him count parts stock and watch him interact with the store managers and employees.  My father was always able to make the employees smile and was most concerned about having fun.  I noticed that he would make sure the staff was happy and satisfied with the services he provided.  Ensuring the customer is taken care of is something I learned from him.  The same can be said about my wonderful mother, a music teacher of 47 years.  I have a great relationship with her and she has played an active role in my life.  She strongly supported my aspirations for sports but also encouraged me to be involved in the arts.  I was a member of the Indianapolis Children's Choir, a member of the Zionsville Royalaires, and was cast in several musicals and plays throughout high school.

One of my favorite photos from my childhood is from the legendary infield of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in the early '80s as shown here.  I grew up watching many CART and IRL races on tv and never missed an Indy 500.  My love for racing was branded by my father.  I have many great memories from the disastrous Michigan 500 with my father when CART and IRL split, to sitting in the bleachers at the Speedrome watching the figure 8 races and spending many weekends at IRP.  Another annual ritual was to head to IRP to watch the US Nationals!  I was exposed to various racing series and automotive marques because of my father's interests.  I had a feeling I'd be working around vehicles in some capacity later in life.

Never give up on your dreams.

When my family moved to Zionsville in the early ’90s, my father and I would park in front of Albers Rolls-Royce and press our noses against the glass admiring and dreaming about the latest offerings in the showroom.  Years later, I would be the one cleaning the glass, and those admiring the cars would be my future clients.  My father would always say, "When you’re making the big bucks, I’ll take that one in red.”   Later in life, when discussing the costs to enroll in college courses, I'll never forget my father telling me, “It was either I save for an E-Type or your first two years of college.”  Needless to say, I'm thankful my parents helped to pay for my first two years of college and my father never had an opportunity to purchase an E-Type.  I'm hopeful that an E-Type is titled in my name someday in memory of my father.  Another memory that always stuck with me was every Christmas morning my father would say, “Oh great, I can’t wait to open this box.  I hope it’s the keys to a new Vette.”

Enjoy the experience.

Always be passionate and make sure you enjoy the experience.  Rules my family instilled at a young age.  When my career started around vehicles, it was an atypical role for a 16 year old.  Without my mom's approval, I walked into Albers Rolls-Royce after school and asked if they needed any help. I said, “I’ll do anything.  Mop floors, scrub toilets, clean cars.”  The young lady at the front desk then handed me an application and I was hired the same week.  On my first day, I was told to leave and not return unless I had long pants on as shorts were not allowed.  A memory I will never forget!  While working at Albers, I gained an appreciation for attention to detail. I was immediately placed under the wings of the owner, Hermann Albers (1940-2002).  This relationship lasted four years and a bond grew during this short period.  From scrubbing toilets to cleaning the floors with a toothbrush to detailing cars, I learned a great deal during the years I worked for Mr. Albers.  After graduating in 2004, I thought my career was headed towards Hospitality Management.  To my surprise, Hermann’s sons, Mark and Greg, asked me if I was interested in a sales position.  At the ripe age of 22 years, I jumped at the opportunity.

Honesty is key.

From 2005 to 2013 I was a Sales Associate for Bentley Zionsville.  I was responsible for the sale from start to finish.  I quickly learned the car business and became knowledgeable about financing, leasing, and was able to welcome a new customer and take them through the sales process including typing all the sales documents and delivering the vehicle.

During my career in sales with Bentley under Mr. Greg and Mr. Mark Albers, I was able to meet and interact with many great people along the way.  I found immense enjoyment in the sales experience and thought if I followed their direction and did things the right way, I could forge a successful career within the automotive field.  Being responsible for marketing and planning events, taking vehicles to car shows, working auto shows, and working with many dealers and clients along the way, I found I truly enjoyed the path I was on.  I found out quickly that honesty was paramount.  Keeping your word and treating everyone the same were traits learned throughout my time with the Albers.  I also felt a strong connection to their small business and recognized that their family dynamics was the key to their success.

Never stop learning.

In 2013 my career with the Albers and Bentley Zionsville would end as I was offered a position as Sales Manager at a new Lotus dealer, Gator Motorsport (Lotus of Indianapolis).  During my time at Lotus Indy, I was able to meet many new clients who were passionate about driving.  Something I wasn’t used to in the past. I quickly realized my personal interests as an enthusiast were more closely related to the owners of such vehicles.  I was responsible for managing all sales, marketing, photography, and social media.  After a few years, I was promoted to GM.

I attended Indianapolis Cars & Coffee events while employed at Bentley Zionsville and years later arranged to host events when Indianapolis Cars & Coffee had no place to go.  I am currently involved in all planning and events for Indianapolis Cars & Coffee.

During my time with Lotus, I learned many new aspects of the car business and had an inside look at what it takes to properly manage a dealership. From finances to hires and to fires, I learned the additional tools needed to properly operate a dealership.  While employed at Lotus of Indianapolis, I was introduced to Putnam Park Road Course.  It has certainly become one of my passions. The facilities of Putnam Park Road Course are top tier and I've enjoyed meeting many new friends and creating some great relationships with other members.  After several great years with Lotus, I found it was time to move on and I resigned in January of 2020.

Integrity is integral.

My partner Brock and I purchased the property in January 2018 with a vehicle storage business in mind.  Actually, I was more interested in using half of the building as a private tailgating venue for Colts games since it is only two blocks from Lucas Oil Stadium!  Plans changed in late 2019, and we agreed to work together and I would soon open an automotive dealership.  After two years of putting in a lot of elbow grease and overseeing many improvements to the building, we opened our doors to MOTORVAULT.

I am hopeful you will consider MOTORVAULT when looking to buy or sell your next vehicle.
