When it comes to muscle car royalty, the Chevrolet Chevelle is always at the top of the list. Introduced in 1964, the Chevelle was one of the first true muscle cars along side the GTO. Offered on the Malibu chassis, the Chevelle was a performance version of Chevy's mid-sized sedan that bridged the gap between the Chevy II and the Impala. After 1967, Chevy was ready to completely revamp their already successful muscle car and release its second generation. Even though the engine options remained virtually unchanged, the rest of the car was completely restyled from the tapered front fenders and rounded belt line.
Fast forward to 1970 and the second-gen Chevelle receives a body and interior restyle, with the exterior having a more "Coke-bottle" design. The simple but iconic design, variety of performance options, and cool-factor made the '70 Chevelle become an absolute legend. While this car had an impact on many in the 1970's, the cultural impact continued as '70 Chevelle's were featured in the movies Dazed & Confused, Fast & Furious, and John Wick. The Chevelle has become one of the few classics that has bridged the interest gap over multiple generations.
In 1970, the SS came standard with the 350 horsepower 396 V8, which this car has. Featuring its numbers-matching engine and 3-speed automatic transmission, this Chevelle came loaded with unique options. Presented in its original colors of Forest Green over Dark Green interior with a Green Vinyl roof, this car also was factory optioned with air conditioning, power steering, power brakes, and bench seat. Showing 71,000 miles, this 1970 SS is a pure example of a muscle car king.
